Terms of Service
These terms describe how Truth Dating works and what you agree to by using it. Truth Dating is currently in development and has not yet launched to the public. This page sets out, in plain language and in detail, the rules we intend to put in force. It is a truthful draft of what the finished terms will cover, not a finished legal document, and it will be reviewed by legal counsel before the app launches.
1. About the service
Truth Dating is a dating app built around identity verification. Every profile that appears in the app has passed a live selfie check, called liveness verification, before it is shown to other members. This is the baseline requirement for using the discovery and matching features of the app.
Some members complete an additional step: a government ID check. Members who pass this check are shown with a gold verification badge on their profile, so other members can see, at a glance, that their identity has been checked against a government issued document. The gold badge is also required to activate a Premium subscription, described in section 5 below.
Truth Dating is operated by Truth Wireless Limited. The app has not yet launched, and features described in these terms may change before launch as we finish building and testing them. We will update this page and ask you to re-consent to material changes, as described in section 12.
2. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Truth Dating. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to hold an account, and accounts found to belong to a minor will be removed.
We plan to verify members in tiers. An unverified account can browse limited parts of the app but cannot appear in discovery or be matched with other members. Completing the liveness check brings your account to the first verification tier, required to appear in discovery. Completing the government ID check brings your account to the second tier, shown as the gold badge described in section 1, and required to activate Premium.
To keep the app honest, we plan to derive a one-way, non-reversible code from your verified identity document and use it to prevent the same person from holding more than one account. This code cannot be turned back into your original document or biometric data. If we detect the same identity behind multiple accounts, we may restrict, merge, or remove the extra accounts.
3. Your account and security
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity on your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us immediately at the email address in section 13.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You may not create an account on behalf of someone else, share your account with anyone else, or transfer your account to another person.
We plan to support signing in with your phone number, and with Sign in with Apple and Google, alongside the identity verification described in section 2. Each account must be tied to a single verified identity.
4. The perk economy
Truth Dating uses perk credits to power features like boosts, extra likes, seeing who liked you, and advanced filters. Credits are earned only by watching a short, verified rewarded video ad inside the app. Credit is granted once we have confirmed the ad was watched in full and the reward is verified, not the moment the ad finishes playing, so there may be a short delay before your balance updates.
Perk credits can never be bought, sold, gifted, or exchanged for any price, in any amount, by anyone. They have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for money or transferred to another account. Earning is subject to daily limits on your account, your device, and, for identity verified members, your verified identity, to keep the system fair and to prevent abuse.
We may adjust, freeze, or remove perk credits where we reasonably believe they were earned fraudulently, for example through automated ad views, emulated devices, or the same person earning across multiple accounts. Freezing future earning does not affect your existing balance or an active Premium subscription. You can contact us if you believe a freeze was placed in error.
5. Premium
Premium is the only thing money can buy on Truth Dating. It is a single subscription, billed and managed entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on which store you downloaded the app from. We do not process payments ourselves and do not receive or store your card details.
Activating Premium requires completing the government ID verification described in section 2. If you subscribe before completing that check, your payment is received but Premium benefits do not turn on until verification passes. Your subscription period still starts from the date of purchase, not from the date verification completes, and we will disclose this to you before you pay.
Refunds are handled under the refund policy of the store you subscribed through, not by Truth Wireless Limited directly. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
6. Acceptable use
By using Truth Dating, you agree not to harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse other members, not to impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are, and not to circumvent or attempt to defeat our identity verification checks.
You agree not to scam, defraud, or solicit money, gifts, or financial information from other members, not to use the app for commercial purposes such as advertising, promotion, or selling goods or services, and not to use the app if you are under 18.
You agree to respect other members' consent when it comes to any photos or messages shared between you, and not to share, forward, or post another member's content outside the app without their permission.
7. Content and licenses
You own the content you post to Truth Dating, including your photos, bio, and prompt answers. By posting content, you grant Truth Wireless Limited a limited license to host, store, display, and distribute that content within the app, solely to operate and improve the service.
You confirm that you have the right to post the content you upload and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.
Verification media, such as the images and video captured during liveness and identity checks, is handled by our verification provider and is covered separately by our Privacy Policy. We do not treat verification media as content you post to your profile, and it is not shared with other members.
8. Safety and moderation
You will be able to report and block other members from their profile or from a conversation. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team against these terms.
We plan to use graduated enforcement. Depending on the severity of a violation, we may issue a warning, restrict certain features, suspend an account temporarily, or ban it permanently. Serious violations, such as threats, scams, or child safety concerns, can lead to an immediate permanent ban.
A ban can apply at the account, device, or verified identity level, to stop someone from simply creating a new account to get around it. If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you can appeal by contacting us at the email address in section 13.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, including for harassment, scams, impersonation, or attempts to defeat identity verification. Where reasonably possible, we will tell you why.
You can stop using Truth Dating and delete your account at any time. Deletion requests go through a 14-day grace period before your account and data are permanently removed, as described in our Privacy Policy, so you have time to change your mind.
Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination, such as the perk economy rules on credits having no cash value, and the limitation of liability in section 10, continue to apply after your account is closed.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Truth Dating is provided as is and as available. Identity verification reduces, but cannot fully eliminate, the risk of encountering someone who misrepresents themselves. We do not guarantee that you will find a match, that other members are exactly who they claim to be beyond what our verification checks confirm, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error free.
You are responsible for your own safety when meeting people you connect with on Truth Dating, including meeting in public places and telling someone else your plans, in line with the safety guidance we plan to provide in the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Truth Wireless Limited is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, or for the conduct of other members, whether online or in person. This section will be refined with legal counsel before launch.
11. Governing law
Truth Wireless Limited is a company operating out of Kenya. The governing law and jurisdiction that will apply to these terms have not yet been finalized and are subject to confirmation with legal counsel before launch. We will update this section, and ask you to re-consent, once that decision is made.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app develops and as we receive legal counsel review. Each version of these terms is dated, and we keep a record of which version you agreed to.
If we make a material change, we will ask you to review and accept the new version before you can keep using features that require agreement to these terms. If you do not accept, you can choose to delete your account instead.
